Sajid Sadpara, a Pakistani mountaineer, has achieved a remarkable feat by climbing Mount Annapurna, the world’s 10th-highest mountain, without the aid of supplemental oxygen. Sajid is following in his father’s footsteps, the late Ali Sadpara, who was also a legendary climber.
Sajid’s latest accomplishment, which he achieved after two years of his father’s tragic death while attempting to climb K2 in winter, is a testament to his determination and courage. At the age of 19, Sajid had already climbed K2, one of the deadliest peaks in the world.
Mount Annapurna, located in Nepal, is infamous for its harsh climbing conditions, and Sajid’s achievement has made him the first South Asian climber to scale an 8,091-meter peak without the use of supplementary oxygen. The mountaineering community has showered Sajid with praise and congratulations, with Chhang Dawa Sherpa taking to Twitter to express his admiration for Sajid’s success.
